Eldridge Dockery Jr.

Founder & ceo, Wings as eagles

Eldridge is a U.S. Army veteran, scholar, and servant-leader whose life has been shaped by discipline, resilience, and a calling to help others. From 1990 to 1994, he served in some of the Army’s most demanding and elite environments. He completed Airborne and Air Assault training and earned the Expert Infantryman Badge, distinctions that reflect both his skill and grit. His assignments included roles in Military Intelligence, Delta Company 103rd Long Range Surveillance, and Pathfinder Company, Alpha Company 509th, where he operated in a lineage of precision, stealth, and high-stakes mission execution. He also served in Range Control, coordinating airspace for attack helicopter operations a role that required exactness, composure under pressure, and the ability to see the entire field when others only perceive chaos. These experiences forged in him a rare combination of tactical clarity, emotional steadiness, and spiritual depth. After completing his military service, Eldridge continued to build a life anchored in leadership and learning. He earned a Master of Arts in U.S. History from Chicago State University, along with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Liberal Studies. His academic work deepened his understanding of the American story, particularly the struggles and transformations of those who serve. In the following decades, Eldridge became a mentor, life coach, protector, teacher, and guide. Whether working in private security, coaching individuals through life transitions, teaching in ministry, or supporting families in crisis, he developed a reputation for seeing people clearly their wounds, potential, and worth. In 2024, that lifelong calling took form as Wings As Eagles, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to holistic restoration for veterans and their families. From a two-acre ranch in South Holland, Illinois anchored by a 3,100-square-foot home that serves as the organization’s hub. Eldridge created a refuge where veterans can breathe, rebuild, and rise. His leadership blends military discipline, academic insight, and spiritual grounding. He believes healing is not just a moment but a journey, and that no one should walk it alone. Wings As Eagles exists because Eldridge knows firsthand that even the strongest soldiers sometimes need a place to land, recover, and rediscover their purpose. Today, he continues to work toward his long-term vision: Green Pastures, a comprehensive, sustainable center for veteran restoration. Every life touched, every partnership formed, and every step forward brings that vision closer to reality. Eldridge Dockery Jr. is a testament to resilience ..a soldier, scholar, and servant-leader committed to helping others rise on Wings as Eagles.

Char Gage

President, wings as eagles

Char Gage’s life has always been about serving others. Through years of leadership opening hotels, developing teams, and providing quarters in hospitality to U.S. veterans, she has learned that true leadership is rooted in service. It is about people. Ensuring they have a safe, clean, and welcoming environment where they can rest, relax, and feel valued. Beyond hospitality, she also developed a background in investing. Investing taught her discipline, stewardship, and the importance of building something sustainable for the future. It shaped how she thinks about growth not just financially, but in people, purpose, and long term impact. Volunteering with veterans and their families deepened her understanding of what it means to truly support those who have given so much. Every veteran deserves more than just a place to stay. They deserve comfort, safety, respect, and the peace of mind to recharge. Those experiences inspired her to create Wings As Eagles. The mission is to continue that work, fully focused on veterans. Through wellness programs, recreation, transitional support, companionship, and family engagement, the organization provides holistic care that helps veterans soar in mind, body, and spirit. Wings As Eagles is about serving those who serve, lifting those who have carried us, and building a community where veterans and their families feel seen, supported, and honored. This is more than a mission, it is a calling. It is the continuation of a lifetime of service, leadership, financial stewardship, and care. Now dedicated entirely to our nation’s heroes.
